Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Drag up and release: your heroine casts a volley of mana orbs that bounce off the walls and the wakelings. Every hit releases mana as a number, and each further hit by the same orb is bigger. Released mana flies on and hits the next wakeling. Colliding numbers merge in your heroine’s way; at 50 the mana overflows and calms the wakelings around it. Three overflows charge the heroine’s flourish, which doubles every number on the board.

How do the heroines differ?

Each heroine merges mana in her own way. Shiori adds colliding numbers. Harin multiplies numbers up to 9 and adds bigger ones. Lian adds them with one extra stroke, and her prime numbers hit a second wakeling. Rika’s powers of two double on every bounce. Shiori and Harin are in the free game; Lian and Rika come with the full version.

What are talismans?

After waves 3, 6, 9 and 12 you pick one of three paper talismans that change the night: for example an extra orb, springy walls or a lower overflow threshold. Some can be taken several times.

I keep losing in the later waves

Every wakeling that reaches the town gate puts out one of the three lanterns there. Aim so the orbs bounce between wakelings rather than straight past them, save the flourish for a crowded board and pick talismans that suit your heroine.

Is the game free?

Yes. The free game has Shiori, Harin and the meadow, the whole first chapter. One in-app purchase unlocks the full game: Lian and Rika, the crystal mine, the night forest with the finale and the rest of the gallery. There are no ads, lucky draws or subscriptions.

Is my progress saved anywhere?

Progress is saved only on your phone. The game has no accounts, so uninstalling it or clearing its data erases your progress. If your phone’s backup is on, it may restore the save on a new device.

How do I delete my data?

The game has no accounts and sends no data to us, so everything it stores is on your phone. To delete it, uninstall the game; on Android you can also go to Settings → Apps → Overmana → Storage → Clear data. To delete emails you sent us, write to privacy@wumiko.games. More in the Privacy Policy.

Were AI tools used to make the game?

Yes, partly. The illustrations, sprites, sounds and music are made with the help of AI models. A person at Wumiko picks and edits every file before it goes into the game, and the world, characters and rules are our own.

When can I play?

Overmana is in testing and will come to Google Play and the App Store. Testers are invited by us; there are no store links yet.

Which devices does the game support?

Android and iOS phones and tablets. [add minimum Android and iOS versions before launch]
